The 40T 72 PID is a compact 72x36 mm controller based on microprocessor technology and built with SMT components.
Its operator interface is shielded by a Lexan® membrane, providing IP65-rated front protection.
The device features three control keys, a 4-digit digital display, and three indicator LEDs. Several sensor types can be connected to the process input, including:

• Thermocouples: J, K, R, S, T, B, E, and N types
• 3-wire PT100 resistance thermometer
• PTC thermistor
• Linear input signals: 0–60 mV, 12–60 mV, 0–20 mA, 4–20 mA, 0–10 V, 2–10 V

The input type can be easily selected from the keyboard and configured through the appropriate input terminals. No external shunt resistors are needed.

The controller is equipped with three outputs, which can be configured as relays (5A, 250 VAC, cos φ = 1) or static outputs (6V/20mA). These outputs can be used for control (heating, cooling, or combined heat/cool without overlap) or alarm functions.
A triac output is also available as an alternative to two relay outputs, allowing direct control of resistive loads up to 2A at 240V.

The instrument is easy to program thanks to logically organized parameter groups: CFG (control parameters), INP (inputs), and OUT (outputs), plus a simplified data-entry menu.
Configuration can be performed even more conveniently using a PC programming kit that includes a connection cable and Windows® software (technical data code 80020).
To enhance security, a password protection system is provided, allowing users to limit access to configuration and parameter editing levels.
