Description

3400 Configurable Controllers

The 3400 series are microprocessor-based controllers available in 48×96 mm and 96×96 mm formats (1/8 DIN and 1/4 DIN).
Manufactured using SMT technology, these controllers provide a complete operator interface with IP54 protection (upgradable to IP65 with faceplate cover).
The faceplate includes a 6-key membrane keypad and a backlit LCD display (also available in larger dimensions in the 4400 model). The display shows the process variable, setpoint, percentage output bargraphs, deviation, and alarm and controller status indicators.
The main input is universal, allowing connection to thermocouples, resistance thermometers, mV signals, or custom-linearized inputs. A secondary analogue input supports remote setpoint, potentiometer valve position feedback, or current transformer inputs.
Digital inputs allow selection between two preset setpoints or switching between local and remote setpoints. With three isolated digital inputs, users can select one of four setpoint programs, provide start/stop/reset signals, or switch between local/remote, auto/manual, or hold modes.
The controller provides up to four outputs, configurable as relay, isolated logic, isolated analogue, or interface for MD81/MD8 expansion units. Output functions are configurable directly from the faceplate.
Outputs can manage heat/cool control with independent PID, alarm signaling, motorized valve control (with or without feedback), retransmission of process variables, setpoints, deviations, or MD8 expansion unit alarms.
The 3400/4400 series can operate as setpoint programmers with up to 8 segments (4 ramps and 4 holds). Additional control features include ratio control between two variables and cascade control with fully configurable parameters.
Optional serial communication (Current Loop, RS232, or RS485) allows reading and writing all instrument parameters. The menu-guided structure simplifies configuration and provides rapid access to all settings.
  • Cascade control for multi-stage processes
  • Ratio control between two process variables
  • Square root extraction on input signals
  • Programmer with 4 setpoints and 4 ramps
  • Thermocouple, resistance thermometer, or linear inputs with configurable scale and linearization
  • Isolated inputs for remote setpoint, valve position feedback, or load-break detection
  • Two independent control outputs with Heat/Cool PID parameters
  • Auto/Manual station with bumpless transfer
  • Configurable retransmission output for process variables
  • Optoisolated 4-wire serial communication (GEFRAN CENCAL protocol)
