Description

GFX4-IR 4-Zone Modular Power Controller for IR Lamps and Inductive Loads

The GFX4-IR is a compact controller managing four independent power loops for electrical loads.
It integrates several technological elements in a single unit, including:
  • Controller
  • Solid-state relay
  • Current transformers
  • Optional fuses and holders
This integration reduces space requirements and simplifies cabling.

The microprocessor controls each loop independently and supports both single-phase and three-phase loads. It can manage low and high temperature coefficient loads, medium and short-wave infrared lamps, and transformer primary circuits.

Configurable activation methods include:
  • Zero crossing with fixed cycle time for conventional loads
  • Burst firing with variable cycle time for low thermal inertia or medium-wave IR lamps
  • Single-cycle operation for short-wave IR lamps with minimal flicker
  • Phase-angle control with current limit, soft start/stop, and max RMS current restriction
The system performs comprehensive diagnostics on current, voltage, and temperature levels:

Current monitoring:
  • Total or partial interrupted load alarm
  • “Teach-in” function to auto-learn alarm thresholds
  • SRC short-circuit alarm
  • Load overcurrent or short-circuit alarm
  • Unbalanced 3-phase load alarm
Voltage monitoring:
  • Phase loss detection in 3-phase systems
  • Phase sequence verification alarm
Temperature monitoring:
  • Overtemperature alarm
Additional feedback modes are available for non-PID applications: voltage feedback with current limit, current feedback, and power feedback with maximum power restriction.

Configuration is done via a software tool that guides safe and correct setup. The controller supports standard Modbus communication and optional fieldbus protocols, including Profibus DP, CANopen, DeviceNet, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, and Ethernet IP.

The standard configuration is easily customizable, allowing different functions to be assigned to outputs.
